THERAPY SUPPORT GROUPS
The Legacy of Trauma
If you have ever thought that you may be dealing with trauma but maybe you felt too scared to find out, this group offers you a place to safely explore your thoughts and feelings. In a supported space we will learn about trauma and its effects on the individual. We will pay attention to the ways in which trauma may show up in Black women. This is not a group for diagnosis but for education and support. Increasing your understanding about trauma can help you to make an informed decision about your mental health. Exploring your feelings in a group setting helps you to see that you are not alone and can find the support that you need.
Girl… Go Lay down!!
I know there are many days when you ask yourself….how did I get here.? Your life is not bad, there are many good things for which you are grateful, but you can’t seem to feel the joyful parts of your life as you should. Have you considered the possibility that you are exhausted?
What if what you need is not another achievement but an intentional way to pull back, restore and commit to yourself on another level?
When was the last time you just laid down. In a park, on a beach, on your sofa or your bed., when you had other things to do ? In this support group we will give ourselves permission to say “ time out” to grind culture. It’s time to find the way back to a deeper sense of self, purpose, need, desire and of course…rest. We will explore rest as a form of resistance for Black women, including the reading of “Rest is Resistance” and “We Will Rest-The Art of Escape” by Tricia Hersey.
